What is a window but a gateway?
Some attribute windows to portals, both physical and metaphysical: a way to view both outside and inside. Windows protect us from the elements, while also laying nature bare before us. They can sport beautifully colourful imagery, and reflect as well as let in. They can also become dirty, fogged, or distorted, and even broken.
In the same way, we can attribute windows to the connections we make between the people and opportunities in our lives. As the old adage goes, “When God closes a door, he opens a window”. While I am not religious, I believe this acts as an important lesson to all of us. Sometimes life does not go the way that we had hoped or planned, and often we are let down by these turn of events. It is important to realize, however, that whenever one of the doors of opportunity closes, a window of perspective will open, and it is crucial that we look through these windows closely and intensely and see the world from a new angle. Sometimes the best way to learn is to observe and to understand, and reflection is a most powerful tool.
